Event Series Event Series: 2024 Beginners Course

2024 Beginners Course – Introduction

March 11 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The 2024 Beginners Course provides new and aspiring beekeepers a good working knowledge of both the theory and practice of beekeeping.

Before booking we recommend that you read our page about some key considerations you must think about before you start.

The theory part of the course will consist of a series of 6 sessions covering:

    • the colony
    • equipment
    • the beekeeping year
    • swarms
    • keeping bees healthy
    • hive products
    • “getting started”

The course will start on Monday 11th March 2024 at 7:30pm in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Southcourt, Aylesbury; with the final theory session on Monday 22 April 2024.

This will be followed by a series of regular practical sessions starting in May and running until the end of July 2023. These are held at our Teaching Apiary near Aylesbury. These practical sessions will provide you with the opportunity to handle bees under the guidance of an experienced beekeeper and you should aim to attend at least three of them. You will be able to book dates for the practical sessions once the theory part of the course has started.
